Entry Requirements
If you have an E grade or lower in GCSE English Language, you will need to take this course.
Course Description
This course is designed to develop your reading and writing skills, whilst supporting you in your other subjects and preparing you to take GCSE English in the future. ESOL This course may be suitable for you if English is not your first language.
Assessment
Portfolio and online test.
Combines Well With
Level 2 subjects, BTECs and some Level 3 subjects.
Course Content

There are three main elements to the Functional Skills course:
The Functional skills tests - for Entry Level 3 and Level 1
Workshop support for reading and writing, including assistance with coursework from other subject areas
GCSE foundation course - giving you a head start on GCSE English work for the following year.

Outcome
A Functional Skills qualification, plus excellent preparation for taking GCSE English the following year.
Extras
A lot of one-to-one support to help you with your coursework in all your other subjects.
