The students who started their courses in 2009-10 will now continue to receive the same payments until the end of the 2011-12 academic year. Students who started their courses in September 2010 and currently qualify for £30 per week payments will receive continuing support of £20 per week until the end of the next academic year.

Discretionary Fund

Who can benefit?

· Students whose parents are in receipt of one of the following income-based benefits: income support, income-based jobseeker's allowance, income-based employment and support allowance or the guaranteed element of pension credit. or
· Students whose parents are in receipt of Working Tax Credit and/or Child Tax Credit and their earned annual income (both parents combined) does not exceed £16,190. or
· Students who are in care (this includes living with a foster parent/carer). or
· Students who have left care. or
· Students who are personally on Income Support. or
· Students who are in receipt of Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance.
